“You shouldn’t give circumstances the power to arouse anger, for they don’t care at all.”
-Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 7.38
We’ve all been put in a situation before that was far less than ideal. It is hard not to be angry about dismal circumstances.
The same way circumstances don’t care about you, why even give it the time of day? If you get angry and that affects your ability to change your circumstances, who really won?
Start thinking about your current circumstance as a variable that will not change until you make certain changes to other variables in your life. The angrier you get, the longer it will take to be effective in changing your circumstances.
Come to terms with whatever circumstances you are put into, evaluate the situation, then develop a game plan to make meaningful change so you design and set up the circumstances you most long for.
None of that involves being actively angry.
